Every day that I awake, I think about these scriptures and applying the fruits of the spirit to my actions, my words and my attitude. My goal daily is to apply them to my daily life. They have always been a good guide for me to see if I'm staying on track. Although I haven't always followed them as I should, now that I am aging, I see how important they are.
Am I being loving?
Am I being joyful?
Am I being peaceful?
Am I being patient?
Am I being kind?
Am I being good?
Am I being faithful?
Am I being gentle?
Do I have self-control?
Self-control it's my biggest hurdle. I believe that self-control is listed last so that it makes an impact. Because if you don 't have self-control, you don't have the ability to have all the other fruits of the spirit wholeheartedly.
The gratefulness in my heart that I wake up with every morning is priceless. As I lay in bed prior to getting up, I have this warm sense of contentment, the blankets that I have, the bed that I sleep in, the home that I have, the puppy that I snuggle with. I've been surrounded deliberately with blessings from God. These are blessings that we often overlook and take for granted. Just look around you. See what you SEE!
I smile in this contentment.
I push everyday to exercise of the fruits of the spirit in my attitude towards others and towards myself. Yes, yourself! It starts there!
We all need the fruits of the spirit in our life. They are basic foundation for you. They really are very simple.
Who wouldn't want to be loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle, with self control?
Truly, when you don't exercise these fruits of the spirit, it tends to raise your cortisol and stress you out! I have expertly experiencedbthis! It will be the opposite things that you will be doing and who you become.
I know that I have made many mistakes in the choices that I've made throughout my life. But the best choice I made has been serving God. He has given me so much mercy and so much love. He especially given me His deliberate grace.
